THE Dracula, starring the man who kickstarted an entire genre of monster horror films, Bela Lagosi. Based off of the success of this single film, Universal Pictures began pumping out similar B-level horror films to the point that they became known as the studio that handled horror. The movie itself is nothing too impressive by today's standards, lacking in most any tension or fear. Maybe because it is so iconic the story has already been culturally engrained in our psyche's.
Not to completely write it off, Dracula (1931) makes use of some impressively oppressive atmosphere. Whats also cool is how the main protagonist and antagonist can have such civil discussions together even though they both wanna kill eachother. A fun film today that has earned its place among the most influencial films of all time, even if its original intended terror has worn off.
