Pinocchio is the 1940 Disney animated classic based on the 1883 Italian children's novel, The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi. It was the first animated feature to win an Academy Award; one for Original Score, and another for Original Song (When You Wish Upon a Star). However, it was initially a box office bomb due to not being able to reach European, and Asian markets because of World War 2. Pinocchio was a groundbreaking achievement in the area of effects animation that film historians often consider to be the most technically perfect of all the Disney animated features.
It's genuinely still funny and engaging for nearly every second. The story is wholesome and encourages good behaviour, just like most every Disney film. Its cute and fun and it really is addicting to just appreciate the fluid animations. That being said it's still a pretty simple tale that has been outpaced quite a bit by modern fairy tales. Pinocchio is a classic animated feature that deserves its place in the annals of film history, even if it is a bit straightforward for modern audiences.
